Chapter Development Specialist

The Minnesota Deer Hunters Association (MDHA) is seeking a Chapter Development Specialist in the State Office in Grand Rapids, MN. The Chapter Development Specialist provides support to MDHA’s 60 chapters, 13 regions, nearly 20,000 members, and Executive Board members across the state to ensure the success of local community efforts in carrying out MDHA’s mission.

MDHA is a 501 (c) (3), Non-Profit organization that continuously strives to build our conservation and hunting legacy through habitat, education, advocacy and legislation.


Chapter Development Specialist


Position based primarily at the MDHA State Office (460 Peterson Road, Grand Rapids, MN 55744) but involves significant statewide travel.

Job Purpose

The Chapter Development Specialist provides direct support to the 13 Regional Directors of MDHA in training on MDHA procedures and policies and provides outreach efforts with Regional Directors by being the organization’s representative in a number of forums and by communicating MDHA’s message to a variety of individuals and groups across the state.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Train Regional Directors and assist in training MDHA Chapter volunteers on Reporting for fundraising and financial audits, as well as membership.
  • Provide outreach opportunities to Regional Directors and Chapters for Mission oriented events.
  • Reactivation of existing Chapters with the assistance of Regional Directors.
  • Research and develop new MDHA Chapters with the assistance of Regional Directors.
  • Manage Recognition Awards for Chapters, identifying successes.
  • Coordinate Annual events and shows.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree in Business Management, Communication, Public Relations, or Marketing

OR equivalent work experience in any of those areas.

  • Proficient knowledge of Google platform and Microsoft Office Application Software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience in fundraising.
  • Experience planning and executing events.
  • Very strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Minnesota Gambling laws and regulations.
