The 2025 Minnesota Wolf Conflict Management Report shows that wolf-related conflicts continue to affect rural communities across northern and central Minnesota.
In 2025, 185 wolf-related complaints were reported statewide, with 102 verified incidents involving livestock, pets, or public safety concerns. Of those, 93 cases involved livestock or poultry, primarily cattle. Verified wolf depredation occurred in 24 Minnesota counties. In response to confirmed damage, 203 wolves were removed.
The report also documents expanded use of non-lethal conflict prevention tools, including fencing, fladry, deterrents, and producer education. While these tools are important, the data continues to show that conflict levels remain consistent as wolf range expands into agricultural and mixed-use areas.
This is why MDHA supports continued investment in Wolf.Report, a citizen-driven reporting tool that helps document wolf sightings and conflicts on the ground. Accurate, transparent reporting strengthens the data needed to inform sound wildlife policy.
MDHA will also continue pushing to return wolf management authority to the State of Minnesota, where decisions can be made using local data, local expertise, and the realities faced by hunters, farmers, and rural communities.
Balanced, science-based wolf management works best when Minnesota is allowed to manage Minnesota’s wildlife.
